Sam Shaffer, Ph.D. has over forty years’ experience in individual psychotherapy and couples counseling. For the past twenty-five years, he has also provided career guidance and vocational assessment.
Dr. Shaffer has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. He also has an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Dr. Shaffer is a New Mexico licensed psychologist and professional clinical mental health counselor. In addition, he is a National Certified Counselor. He holds diplomate specialty certifications in couples and family, geriatric, and integrated behavioral health care counseling. He is a past president of the New Mexico Counseling Association.
Dr. Shaffer’s research interests include human development, intimate relationships, vocational motivation, and growth-oriented psychotherapy. As an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, Dr. Shaffer has conducted continuing education workshops for mental health professionals. These workshops cover life transitions, psychotherapy, clinical ethics, and other subjects related to counseling psychology.
